The All Species Puppet Parade was founded in 2013 by a loose itinerant collective of artists, educators and creatives. The beloved puppetistas welcome new puppetistas into the fold every year through participation in workshops and the annual parade.

Our Mission

Through the merging of art with ecology, we hope to cultivate love and care for all species.

Workshops

We invite participants to research the species they want to make while thinking about the following questions

  • What does this species need to survive and thrive?

  • What place does it hold in the ecological web of interdependencies?

Very special thanks to the following partners for their continuing support: Carbondale Park District, Carbondale Community Arts, Carbondale Main Street, SIU Touch of Nature

  • What shape does it take?

  • What colors?

  • Fins, feet, wings?

  • How does it move in the world?

  • How will you imagine and create this species?

Participating organizations include the following: Neighborhood Food Coop, The Science Center, The Climate Economy, Shawnee Group Sierra Club, SIU Sustainability, SIU Honors Program and SIU Student Volunteers Program.
